I feel as if I’m on a writing frenzy lately, and I’m completely okay with it!
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations
– Isaiah 42:6
Being called by God Himself in righteousness is incredible when you begin to grasp it’s wonder. The HCSB translates it as lit, that we are “lit with righteousness”. I find that translation quite incredible: Here is why.
As you continue to the end of the verse you see that God is supplying a “New Covenant” for the people, one that will be, not just a light, but the light. That light is Jesus Christ.
Going back to the HCSB translation of “being lit with righteousness” and that the covenant for the people would be The Light/Jesus. It gives me confidence to know that just as Jesus is going to bring forth justice, make the blind see, and free the prisoners who sit in darkness (Isaiah 42:7) that I have been given a piece of that light. That I must nurture that light and let it become a flame all to point the praise and glory to The Light, Jesus Christ.
